The name of the festival is Kontrast.
Contrasti is the word that Italian circus artists have used for generations to refer to artists without a dynasty, that is to say, who do not come from traditional circus families. And that is who we are. Contrasts, with no rules to adhere to: just 100% pure circus.
We are opening the doors of our home and hosting the Kontrast #3 festival once again with artists from all over the world. But you won’t find nationalities here. Passports are not the business of our circus. You will be able to discover the path of each artist by meeting them after their shows and sharing moments off-scene.
Kontrast, taken from the Italian “contrasto” (contrast) and the Latin “contra” (against) and “stare” (to stay), i.e. “to stay against” is a concept that has always been a part of the reality of the festival’s promoters. On one hand instigators of independent itinerant theater on tour in Europe, the Side Kunst-Cirque circus tent , and on the other disseminators of contemporary arts in an old textile colony in Catalonia that has been recovered over twenty years ago.
With the desire to set ourselves apart from any standardized way of conceiving the circus and the organization of a festival, we invite dozens of circus-theatre artists, music and plastic artists to be a part of party together with the visitors to contrast with the boredom of spring.
Kontrast is a festival where the feats can be touched with your hands. Away from screens and digital entertainment. The magic of the circus and bodies in motion will coexist for two weeks in Cal Rosal to become the festival we’ve always dreamed.
The skill of the artists, the shows and the music create a joyful festive atmosphere. While the reality of everyday life surprises with cruelty, to feel such joy may seem unreal, but it isn’t…Once again, the Kontrast festival is here!
